AVA Gallery and Art Center
September 26, 2020 – October 23, 2020
AVA Gallery and Art Center, located at 11 Bank Street in Lebanon, NH, is pleased to present the exhibition Shadowing Alfred: An AVA Dog Show, on display from September 26, 2020 through October 23, 2020 in our new Members Gallery.
The relationship between humans and dogs is the world’s oldest inter-species relationship. AVA has been a dog-friendly space throughout its 30 years in Lebanon, beginning with the gentle presence of Bente Torjusen and Clifford West’s two German Shepherds, Vincent and Phoenix, in the galleries. (Phoenix was even happy to pose for life drawing classes when the model was late!) Through the years, staff and artists have brought their dogs to AVA to share their spaces, and from spring 2018 until his death in June of 2019, a special rescue hound named Alfred touched staff and visitors at AVA as well as through his Instagram account @alfredthehound.
Two years after Alfred came to live in the Upper Valley, we are celebrating his life as well as the lives of other dogs that touch us in ways great and small in a community exhibition of artwork in AVA’s Members Gallery from September 26 – October 23, 2020. Come share your story of a special dog that touched your life.
10% of all artwork sales will be donated to Long Trail Canine Rescue, the organization that rescued Alfred and brought him to the Upper Valley.
