As the Upper Valley seeks to continue growth of its workforce, it has become increasingly important that we recruit and retain exceptional talent to lead our institutions, businesses, and communities. With a tight labor market, New Hampshire’s aging demographics and the rural setting of our location working against us, it has become evident that a collaborative effort among area employers is needed more than ever.
We are bringing together employers, crossing industries, to introduce the Maine Career Connect program that started based on a similar need in Eastern Maine. This non-profit program was founded in 2013 and has since expanded to additional regions, supporting newly relocated professionals and their families with their transition to Maine communities. We are proposing a similar program, to be housed under the newly formed Upper Valley Business Alliance (UVBA is the result of the merger of the Hanover and Lebanon Area Chambers of Commerce. UVBA will commence January 2020).
